The 2nd edition of the Salsa Festival will be taking place in Havana, Cuba, through Feb. 27, 2017, with the presence of popular dance music bands.

Maykel Blanco, a musician, songwriter, director of Salsa Mayor band and creator and Honorary President of this event, underscored that preserving, spreading and promoting Cuban popular music and its values, from Cuba and for the world, remain as the utmost motives of those participating in this project.

Once again, the capital’s Metropolitan Park hosts an event that offers enthusiasts a well-assorted artistic and musical program.

Efrain Sabat, Artistic Director, said during a press conference that, within the 5 p.m.-2 a.m. period, the attendees are going to enjoy parades by such groups as Los Guaracheros de Regla and shows livened up by DJs from Cuba, Argentina, England and the United States, who have joined this edition of the event.

Mr. Sabat announced that the concerts are schedule to tee off at 9 p.m. and the opening night, on Feb. 23, will have Paulo F.G y su Élite, Bamboleo and Los Van Van. Feb. 24 will be moved by Pupy y los que Son Son and Anacaona, which this year celebrates its 85th anniversary. As for Feb. 25, the public will enjoy concerts by El Noro, N.G La Banda and Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, while the closing night, on the 26th, is going to be livened up by Adalberto Álvarez y su Son, Tania Pantoja and Habana D?Primera.

Also conceived to foster the participation of Cuban popular music fans from other countries, Comodoro Hotel is the second venue of the event, where music and dance theoretical and practical workshops will be carried out.

The foreign enthusiasts that registered for the event by means of Paradiso, the official inbound agency, had the opportunity to enjoy an attractive program of activities, including a visit to Hamel Alley and EGREM Record Studios, among other special offers.

Sponsored by Maykel Blanco and the Provincial Carnival and Culture company, this project is also organized by Artex, Musicalia Artistic Representation Agency, and Paradiso, Cultural Tourism Agency, both managed by Cuban holding Artex S.A., the Cuban Institute of Music and the Musical Editions and Records Company (EGREM is the Spanish acronym).

The tickets for the 2nd Salsa Festival, at the Metropolitan Park, are sold in Cuban currency and the organizers have prepared a diverse offer of cultural products, as well as the sale of quality products and gastronomic services.
