Important Foreign Presence at the Havana World Music Festival

Havana, Cuba.- The 4th Edition of the Havana World Music Festival to be held from March 23rd to the 26th in the Cuban capital will have the participation of about a dozen foreign and Cuban groups.

 

The Artistic Director of the festival, Eme Alfonso said that the Fabrica de Arte Cubano and the Metropolitan Park, both in Havana will be the sites of the event with guests like Night losers (Rumania), Lindigo (France) and the Hip Hop Nomadic Massive group (Haiti-Canada).

 

She also commented, that singer/songwriters like Wesli (Haiti-Canada) recognized as the most important figure from Montreal in the discipline of world music will be on hand, also Lady Moscow (Norway), Spanish ballerina Sara Guirado and bands like Speed Caravan from France and Vlada Tomova from Bulgaria.

 

Some of the Latin American and Caribbean artists that will participant at the festival are System Solar and Rancho Aparte Chirimia from Colombia and Mexican Dubwiser project directed by DJ and Producer Marcelo Tijerin.

 

The Cuban participation will go to Alexander Abreu and Havana D’Primera, La Trovuntivitis, singer/songwriter David Torrens, Ecos Flamenco Company, singer Dayme Arocena, La Tumba Francesa and La Flota, which unites X Alfonso, drums Yussy Garcia and David and Ernesto Blanco to interpret pop rock.

 

The festival will also have young Cuban groups selected through a call made by HWM Primera Base this year with La Cruzada doing their presentation and the Coral Luna Choir and trova singer Adriana Machado.

 

As traditional, the event will include workshops, conferences, performances, exhibition and DJ session to generate a space of exchanges that will involve those interested in the current music tendencies.

 

Sponsored by the Cuban Music Institute, HWM has become one of the most popular events of the Cuban musical scene with the presentation of international groups known for their authenticity and originality.
