As part of El Museo del Barrio's Día de Muertos celebration, we are delighted to present Sweet Blue, a part of Por Vidx, an ongoing series of collaborative installations created by Libby Paloma and Ace Lehner.
The series reflects on and honors members of the LGBTQ+ community by incorporating adornments found in queer aesthetics and communal spaces, an all-to-often underrepresented or marginalized constituency. This year's altar also honor also honors the extraordinary number of lives lost due to the pandemic, systemic racism, and civil unrest.
On view now in Las Galerías until November 15 (Saturdays and Sundays, 12-5pm only), we invite you to share the name, a memory or an image of a loved one who has passed away, in person at the Galleries or via email at press@elmuseo.org. All online submissions will be posted on our webpage and will be included in the on-site altar.
