Emerging talent arrives in Madrid at the hands of Hybrid

Between March 1 and 3, the third edition of Hybrid Art Fair will transform the Madrid Hotel Petit Palace Santa Bárbara into an immense art gallery, in which 150 emerging artists from the national and international scene will exhibit their works, surrounded by performances, concerts, training activities, networking and exclusive events.

Topics such as immigration and post-humanism, aromatic or gustatory sensory evocations, electronic folklore, irreverence, humor or sound and interactive art will come together here, through multiple disciplines and activities.

Hybrid Art Fair is an annual meeting of young galleries, hybrid art spaces and artists' initiatives, conceived in the format of a fair and directed by three cultural managers: Ana Sanfrutos, Eugenia Chenlo and Aida Chaves (founders also of Boreal Projects).

The event, which is part of the Art Week in Madrid, differs from the usual concept of the fair by its unusual format: the rooms of the hotel are transformed into exhibition spaces (36 of them will be intervened this year), which makes the exhibitors face the challenge of installation, and that visitors get a close and welcoming experience with the artists.

Hybrid will also convert other spaces of the Petit Palace Santa Bárbara into a stage for its parallel activities, among which stand out an aromatic laboratory ("Evening menu", by Shahar Afek), memories of sociocultural events of the past ("The Last Supper of the Generation of the '27 Cocktail Croquetelón ", by Luis Melón Arroyo) and the improvised, audiovisual and sound performance by the Taiwanese artist Veeeky.

In addition, "Microresidencias. 1 Artist 1 Day ", in which the public will be able to interact with artists such as Rocío Bueno, Víctor Clemente and Aurora Duque de la Torre.

As a novelty, Hybrid Art Fair introduces in this edition "Talking Independent", a forum where new models of management within the international independent art scene will be discussed, with presentations by curators and artists.

The concerts will begin on Friday the 1st with the electronic folklore of Julián Mayorga and the irreverent songs of the versatile Clara te Canta. While on Saturday 2, the IN-SONORA festival will approach the experimentation with the voice looping of Narcoléptica, the Alfredo Morte Symphony Orchestra, and the live coding of Aurora Steve -a music with very diverse references, created live through the programming with algorithms.
