Relational Undercurrents, Contemporary Art of the Caribbean Archipelago..

The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum  FIU opened its doors last Saturday to announce a powerful new exhibition for the Art Basel Season 2018. Relational Undercurrents: Contemporary Art of the Caribbean Archipelago is the first major survey of this size and scope of 21st century art by contemporary Caribbean artists representing 14 countries, whose works offer expansive perspectives that transcend the boundaries imposed upon Caribbean cultures.

Visitors enjoyed a panel discussion with moderator Dr. Tatiana Flores, Curator of the exhibition, Adler Guerrier and Charo Oquet, both artists featured in the exhibition, and Dr. Andrea J. Queeley, Associate Professor of Anthropology at FIU. Panelists discussed contemporary art by Caribbean artists and the prevailing issues related to the Caribbean diaspora.
