En 2015, France will celebrate the 500 anniversary of the accession to the throne of the city of Blois, and the National Library of France and the Francisco I library, the most significant outside Paris and its region collaborated to carry out one of the most important exhibitions of this year.
The exhibition will present for the first time an ambitious restoration of the Francisco I library.
The most precious books from the Francisco I library will be compiled at the Castillo Real de Blois, accompanied by a selection of objects of art from the royal collection.
Among the 140 selected objects, over 130 are preserved at the National Library of France: hand-written and printed books, precious bindings, engravings and drawings, coins and medals, works of art and jewelries.
Other works will come from important French and international cultural institutions like the Louvre museum and mainly from US like the Metropolitan Museum of Art de New York, The Morgan Library and Museum of New York as well as private collections.
The Royal Castle of BLOIS
First ineludible place of the Loire village getting to Paris, the royal castle of Blois was the residence of 7 kings and 10 queens of France. It is a place evocative of power and the daily life in the court during the Renaissance time. This museum has over 35 000 works.
