Rolling with Art. El Cadillac Rosa

In a filmic salad made by Buddy Van Horn with the recipe of John Eskow, Clint Eastwood and Bernadette Peters try to dress it up with the scenes of comedy, thrillers and drops of social drama. Filmed in 1989, it had very few consumers (it cost 19 million and only raised 12) in addition to receiving terrible criticism.

The film tells the story of Tommy Nowak (Clint Eastwood), a lonely man who earns his living as a kind of modern day bounty hunter, dedicated to capturing delinquent debtors. One day he accepts, although not very willingly, the task of looking for a woman: Lou Ann McGuinn (Bernadette Peters), convicted of possession of fake money.

After paying bail, Lou Ann flees in the pink Cadillac of her stupid husband and there the action begins. Because it turns out that inside the pink Cadillac there are hidden $ 250,000 that Lou Ann thinks are fake, but it's not like that they're good! And worst of all, that money is from an ultra-right terrorist group that does not want to lose it.

I'm not going to tell you who is the protagonist of this film, persecuted viciously by the police, terrorists and others: The pink Cadillac. This way it was for the History of the Cinema, one of those iconic films dedicated to a certain car, with its brand and, even, the color: The pink Cadillac. And believe me, that does not abound.

The other story is real, it happens before. It is that of Mary Kay Ash (1918-2001), a woman who was a salesperson from 1939 to 1960 with great success. She retired in 1963 to found Mary Kay Cosmetics Inc. The pink Cadillac was the prize given by her company to commercials that achieved record sales. Her motto: "praise successful people".

The pink cadillac

The first pink Cadillac was purchased from a dealership in Dallas, Texas, in 1967. Mary and her husband Mel had another car that they had painted pink because it "matched the compact shade of blush in cosmetics." That car was a symbol of her company. In 1969, she had already purchased 1 970 Cadillac Sedan DeVille, as an incentive, for the most successful 'networkers'.

Mary Kay

According to data, the company Mary Kay has bought some 100,000 cars, most of them Cadillac. In China the pink Cadillac have caused an impact, although there is also BMW, Chevrolet and Ford Mustang in the USA; Europe, Mercedes-Benz; Brazil, Honda Civic; Russia, Ford Mondeo; Australia, Opel. Yes, they are all pink.
