ART MARBELLA will once again take place at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos of Marbella between July 29 and August 3, 2016. The show will extend to six days, maintaining the same hours of 18:00 to 22:30, except for the last day when it will open between 12:00 and 22:30.
The success of the first edition of ART MARBELLA confirmed that the city is positioning itself as the meeting point in the European summer for contemporary art lovers from Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
ART MARBELLA will continue to be a boutique fair, small, inviting and easy to navigate, made up of a selection of 47 galleries form around the world. The collectors’ programme will once again be central to the event and will grow in number guests and geographical reach.
The new galleries that join for the second edition are: Baró Galeria (Sao Paulo, Brazil) one of the most important galleries in Latin America who recently participated in Frieze New York, beta pictoris gallery/Maus Contemporary (Birmingham, USA), Carles Taché (Barcelona), El Tercero de Velázquez (Madrid), Galería Álvaro Alcázar (Madrid), Galería Casa Cuadrada (Bogotá, Colombia), Galería de Arte David Bardía (Madrid), Galería Hispánica Contemporánea (Madrid), Galería Moisés Pérez Albéniz (Madrid), Galería Senda (Barcelona), Galería silvestre (Madrid), Galería Xavier Fiol and Horrach Moya (both from Palma de Mallorca), Galería Javier Román (Málaga), Kir Royal Gallery (Valencia), La Gran (Valladolid), Lin & Lin Gallery (Taipei, Taiwan) bringing a Solo Project with unpublished works by José María Cano, Lucía Mendoza (Madrid), Pabellón 4 Arte Contemporáneo (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Python Gallery (Zúrich, Switzerland), Rafael Ortiz (Sevilla), RocíoSantaCruz (Barcelona), RoFa projects (Potomac, USA), for the first time a gallery from Morocco with a contemporary art programme: Saida Art Contemporain, Sala Branca (Lisbon, Portugal), Toro Arte Contemporanea (Caserta, Italy), The Gallery Steiner (Vienna, Austria), Yolanda Ochando Obra Gráfica (Málaga), and local galleries Art Wanson Gallery y Pedro Peña Art Gallery, both from Marbella.
At the collective exhibit Libro de bolsillo the three literary genres – lyric, narrative and dramatic – become at the same time an unusual guide and an opportunity to establish readings alongside paintings, which promote new dialogues with the spectator.
The exhibit includes works by Alejandro Botubol, Almudena Fernández Ortega, Ana Matías, Elena García La Fuente, Felipe Ortega Regalado, Gloria Martín Montaño, Irene Sánchez Moreno, Ismael Lagares, Jorge Hernández, José Medina Galeote, Manuel Antonio Domínguez, Norberto Gil, Paco Sanguino, Paula Vincenti, Pedro Peña, Rosario Olarte, Roy Anglada and Santiago Picatoste.
Local artists will also have a place at Art Marbella with AVAND, the Andalusian Association for Visual Arts within the fair and as a special project, with the support of Proyecto Lunar and the Economics Council of Andalusian Government.
ART MARBELLA will host special projects by artists Jaime Gili, Asdrúbal Colmenárez, Erika Harrsch and Adolfo Barnatán
RoFa Projects of Washington DC will present a mural by Erika Harrsch made up of butterflies created from bank notes. The installation is based on actual patterns of international migration representing the human flow in search of better living conditions.
Nomonochrome Project is a proposal created specifically for the fair by artist Jaime Gili, Venezuelan based in London. The project stems form the tradition of modern abstract painting from the 50’s and the concept of “ art synthesis” applied to vintage sport cars.
Galeria Álvaro Alcázar will present a project of outdoor sculptures by Adolfo Barnatán, Argentinean painter and sculptor long time resident of Madrid, located at the entrance of the fair.
Once again Don Antonio Dominguez de Haro is present with an exhibit honouring his long career, which is part of the artistic heritage of the city.
Galeria Hispanica Contemporanea brings a space for Mr. Brainwash, an artist recognised around the world for his relationship with the controversial graffiti artist Bansky. Mr. Brainwash uses icons from the culture of consumption and images from celebrities and the famous, mixed with pop art and graffiti.
Publishing house Artika from Grupo Planeta will present a collection of artist books, valuable select and numbered editions, among which we find “Garagatos” by Joaquin Sabina and “Los paisajes de Sorolla
