Cuba Stands out at Buenos Aires Book Fair 2018

Cuba stands out today at the Buenos Aires Book Fair with a stand attended by dozens of Argentine readers in search of the island''s literature and especially the texts of Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara.

New features of the island's writers, classics by established authors, new work of the youngest ones and texts for all ages, are the proposals of that Caribbean nation in the editorial fair, about to conclude, where several Cuban authors are also present.

The island's flag appears in the yellow pavilion, stand 1601, from where its representative, Jose Alberto Negrin, manager of Soy Cubano agency, of Artex, welcomes visitors these days, who demand a wide variety of books.

Readers can find in our stand the new Cuban books of this year, Negrin told Prensa Latina, and added that among the most sought-after books at the fair -in which the island has had a sustained presence- are those of Fidel Castro, Che and National Hero Jose Marti.

Another book in this literary event is 'Las oscuras leyendas de Chano Pozo' (The Dark Legends of Chano Pozo), by Ricardo Oropesa, which tells the outstanding drummer's life, his sufferings, artistic sensitivity and influence of his work in the development and evolution of the rhythms of those times.

Cuba attends this fair with many of its writers, where -as every year- it had a special night, in which a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the text 'La paloma del vuelo popular', by Cuban National Poet, Nicolas Guillen, published in Buenos Aires in 1948, and the 20th anniversary of the A Guitarra Limpia project, of the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Center, were paid.
