II Biennial of Design in Santiago begin

With the collaboration of the Caguayo Foundation, from this Thursday until June 2, the city of Santiago de Cuba will once again host the Design Biennial of Havana, an event that began its second edition under the motto Beyond the shape the past day 20 in the capital, with a special dedication to the half millennium of its foundation.

As planned, in the Hero City the program will start in the morning hours at the Arte Soy Gallery with the conference Beyond the form ... the experience, which will be given by Gisela Herrero García, director of the National Design Office, ONDI, organization that assembles and organizes the appointment, scheduled to conclude in Camagüey on the 16th.

Likewise, for the opening day and in the René Valdés Gallery, the inauguration at 6:00 p.m of a collective exhibition with works by twelve designers who have developed their work in the eastern city, which includes José (Pepe) Celeiro, Bárbara Aguilar Méndez, Jorge Alejandro Soler, Tatiana Mariño and Zoilo Fernández, to name a few, is announced.

Presentations of the architectural projects of the first hotel that in the category 5 stars plus there is built and of the Second Front; of public good campaigns, such as the one called Safe Water; a workshop for young cartoonists; lectures about Santiago’s experiences in design, particularly in the publishing sphere, and the exhibition Children design against the blockade, will be part of the proposals during these days.

The Universal Art Gallery, the Dranguet House, the Promotion Center for Health, the Amado Ramón Sánchez bookstore-athenaeum and the San Antonio María Claret Missionary Animation Cultural Center will also open their doors to the Santiago segment of the Second Havana Design Biennial., where the closing ceremony will take place next Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Before moving its headquarters on June 13 to the city of Camagüey, where it also took place three years ago, BDHabana will return to the capital from the 4th to the 7th of the same month, with the sessions of the X International Congress of Design Form 2019.
