Out now: Conversations program Paris+ par Art Basel

What erotic counter-readings of art history does the late recognition of queer artistic scenes offer? Why is the dandy figure so important to many contemporary artists? How is Pan-Africanism revitalized by a new generation of creatives? These are among the many questions the speakers participating in Paris+ par Art Basel’s inaugural Conversations program will attempt to answer.

Curated by Pierre-Alexandre Mateos and Charles Teyssou and taking place on a docked boat opposite the Eiffel Tower, the Conversations program features 32 speakers across nine panels, bringing together leading artists, gallerists, collectors, curators, museum directors, and critics.

Highlights include:

What’s Next for the French Art Market? with gallerists Mariane Ibrahim, Thaddaeus Ropac, and High Art’s Romain Chenais. Moderated by Farah Nayeri, author and journalist.

Artists’ Influencers with artist Hervé Télémaque, author Françoise Vergès, and Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director, Serpentine Galleries, London

Sex and Art along the Seine: with artist Tarek Lakhrissi, author Bruce Benderson, and Mathieu Potte-Bonneville, Director, Department of Culture and Creation, Centre Pompidou. Moderated by independent curator Juliette Desorgues

The Conversations program will run from Thursday, October 20 to Saturday, October 22. The panels will be held either in English or French with simultaneous translation.

It is free to the public and will be streamed on Art Basel’s Facebook channel. All Conversations will also be available on the Art Basel website and on YouTube after the fair.
