Pinta Sud ASU: what the first edition of this program left in Asunción, Paraguay

In the past first week of August, from 1 to 7, the first edition of Pinta Sud ASU was held in the city of Asunción, Paraguay. This is a special program dedicated to promoting and giving visibility to Paraguayan contemporary art on the local and international scene, and which seeks to generate environments of cooperation and exchange between various public and private sectors of the Paraguayan cultural scene.

Sponsored by EFG Wealth Management, Pinta Sud ASU is an initiative created by Pinta Art to stimulate and internationalize new markets and the growing contemporary art scene. La Casa Pinta (Av. Mariscal López 650, Asunción, Paraguay), in front of the Central Railway Station, was the venue for the program. Different exhibitions, meetings and talks were held here throughout the week with artists, gallery owners, curators, collectors, architects, creative industry agents and special guests from the local and international scene.

On the one hand, a cycle of talks and interviews was held with important references of contemporary art from Paraguay and international guests, and on the other, seven international art galleries from Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Montevideo participated in the Parcel Space. and Miami as guests with contemporary art proposals.

The event, declared of cultural and tourist interest by the Municipality of Asunción, was an opportunity to discover the culture of a country whose artistic production is little known on the international circuit. With this in mind, the program included, in addition to contemporary works, collections and samples of indigenous and popular art.

On Monday 1, the event began with a welcome cocktail at the Hotel "La Misión", followed by a night of orchestra with the Concert of the Symphony Orchestra of the National Congress in the Convention Hall of the Central Bank of Paraguay. On Tuesday, through a lunch of typical Paraguayan cuisine, the Inauguration of Pinta Sud ASU was held and the doors were opened for activities aimed at the entire public free of charge.

During the following days, different cycles of talks and films, conversations, gallery tours were carried out and, to close this event, on Sunday 7 families were invited to live an experience dedicated to promoting the exchange and creativity of the youngest.

Without a doubt, this first edition of the Pinta Sud ASU program was a successful experience for all those who participated, both for the agents of the art industry and for the visitors who were part of the event. It was a huge step towards the visibility of Paraguayan art, in its own local scene and on the international scene, which resulted in a massive flow of public, numerous sales and great learning and reflection.

With views to next year, this art week will be repeated in Asunción from August 7 to 13, 2023. A week full of cultural and artistic exchange, activities and networking opportunities. It awaits you!
