An unpublished research work on the ongoing art process in Latin America and the Caribbean could be assessed by an international jury at the ALBA Art Review & Theory Prize, whose deadline has now been extended till March 31, 2011.
The event, summoned by the ALBA Cultural Fund and the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, pursues the fostering of thoughts on a variety of topics related to the visual arts in the region. Thus, experts from this geographical region –no matter whether they are not currently living in their homelands- can also sign up. Texts will be appraised in line with their critical or essay character, as well as their relation to a number of issues, the way they broach with the new geopolitical configurations and the intercultural processes going on in the region. Jurors will also be looking into the different scenarios in which the new globalization process stands in the face of new identities.
A prize consisting of a book publication and $10,000 will be granted to the winner. Depending on the jury’s call, up to three mentions could be doled out.
