Huge Turnout at the Miami Sculpture Biennial

Monumental works deployed along the Biscayne Boulevard, the Bayside Marketplace and the lobby of the Intercontinental Hotel in Downtown Miami have been watched by over 100,000 people since the grand opening of the Miami Sculpture Biennial in mid December 2010 and whose closing ceremony is slated for this weekend.

The ripple effects of the Sculpture Biennial –no lucrative purposes- that targets the entire community is just another social initiative spearheaded by its producer, gallery owner Gary Nader, a man with large experience under his belt in the mounting of exhibits that help put Latin American artists on the world map.[1]

The Biennial –curated by Ricardo Pau Llosa– has turned out to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to admire the work of boldface names in the realm of arts, such as Martin Kippenberger, Thomas Kiesewetter, Thomas Scheibitz, Hans Van de Bovenkamp (Germany); Hernan Dompe, Carolina Sardi (Argentina); Khalid Farhan (Bahrain); Michael Flomen (Canada); Fernando Botero, Edgar Negret, Eduardo Ramirez (Colombia); Agustin Cardenas, Jose Bedia, Julio Larraz, The Merger: Mario Miguel Gonzalez (Mayito) / Niels Moleiro Luis / Alain Pino (Cuba); Olafur Eliasson (Denmark); Stephen De Staebler, Joseph Wheelwright, Keith Harina, John Henry, Roy Lichtenstein, Enrique Martinez Celaya, Isamu Noguchi, Dennis Oppenheim, Henry Richardson, John Ruppert, Frank Stella (USA); Arman, Herve Di Rosa, Bernar Venet, Jean Dubuffet (France); Sophia Vari (Greece); Richard Hudson, Henry Moore (UK); Ahmed Albahrani (Iraq); Sandro Chia, Mimmo Paladino, Gaetano Pesce (Italy); Hugo Schiaffino, Rufino Tamayo (Mexico); Pablo Atchugarry, Daniel Escardo (Uruguay), and Sydia Reyes, Jesus Rafael Soto (Venezuela).

It deals with the time this gallery owner dedicates to collecting artwork and encouraging the appraisal of the arts.
