First Virtual Art Fair Kicks Off On Saturday

A hundred and thirty eight leading contemporary galleries –from 30 countries– will participate tomorrow Saturday, January 22 in the opening of the first virtual art fair VIP.

VIP, acronym for “Viewing in Private” is the first fair of its type in the world. It will run until Sunday January 30. Those who have bought tickets for the fair will have access to interactive and enriched visualization. If interested in buying, the seller (who will be available for art collectors at least 18 hours a day due to the different time zones) will invite you to a private space to show you all of the pieces and talk via instant messaging or telephone.

James Cohan, owner of New York’s gallery of the same name, founded the VIP fair together with his wife Jane Cohan and internet company executives Jonas and Alessandra Almgren. The presentation of works of art, accompanied by video animations on real time (streaming) and dynamic approaches to visualize details, together with the possibility of getting in touch directly with participating gallery owners from any part of the world, make this fair a unique experience. In any case, a social network will emerge from the event that will facilitate future contacts between art collectors and sellers at traditional fairs.
