11th DIGITAL ART HALL AND COLLOQUIUM

Havana: “Pablo de la Torriente Brau” Cultural Center, sponsored by the Historian’s Office in Havana City and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE), and the collaboration of Cuba’s Writers and Artists League (UNEAC) and Cuban Institute of Art and Movie Industry (ICAIC) calls the 11th Digital Art Hall and Colloquium in order to promote artistic and cultural values which are favored by new technologies.

The Hall’s goal, to be inaugurated on November 8, 2011, is to continue showcasing the work that is presently carried out in this field and promote the exchange and reflection among creators and experts related to these new ways of artistic expression. The actions during the 11th Hall and its Colloquium will also celebrate and thank the contribution made by the community of digital artists in Cuba and abroad to this cultural project for over a decade.

This edition of the event will include the national hall, with competitive character, colloquium, exhibitions and audiovisual displays by international artists attending the event.

In this eleventh edition, there will be exhibitions and displays related to digital photography, graphic design, video-art and other artistic expressions linked to digital art, which have also found diffusion and debate spaces at Pablo Center in all these years.

Artists can send free-subject matter printed or audiovisual works that have been created by using digital technologies. This call doesn’t include the presentation of installations, which can participate in Project AD 2012, event alternating, since last year, with the Halls, currently biennials, of Digital Art. The works can be delivered at Pablo de la Torriente Brau Cultural Center (Muralla Street No. 63, Old Havana) before September 7, 2011.

There will be first, second and third position awards. The jury, made up of prestigious artists and specialists whose decision will be impossible to appeal, can also deliver honorable mentions in both categories. The awards will be handed during the inauguration ceremony of the Hall, on November 8, 2011.
