Tania Vasallo & Ben Mittleman thru January 15

A new photo exhibition by multiple award winners Tania Vasallo and Ben Mittleman will be open to the public until January 15 at the Kreisler Gallery, Madrid.

A-6 sin prisasis an in-depth descriptive account of the identity of certain traffic spaces that denies the vision of “street photography”, focusing on roads not as a place but as a space for transitory stay. Vasallo’s and Mittleman’s pictures convey a powerful identity character that generates a strong empathy in a simple way, no matter where we come from, while turning to little ephemeral details from Costumbrismo, fleeting moments, surprising for their simplicity and formal beauty. The journey, in the snapshots in the exhibition, becomes the end in itself.

The pieces, with a marked documentary influence, are firm in terms of aesthetics. There is a formalist intention, geometry and order governing the whole display, and therefore distinguishing Kreisler Gallery’s museography.

Tania Vasallo (Madrid, 1974) and Ben Mittleman (Philadelphia, 1972) worked for many years in the United States, specializing in the art direction of advertisement campaigns. From there, they studied and laid their photography projects. Their pieces have been displayed in Madrid, La Coruña, New York and Pennsylvania. In 2010, they received the Photo España “Gymkana fotográfica de Madrid” award, the Prix de la Photographie in 2009, and in 2004 their work was recognized by BBC News.
