Peruvian artist Iosu Aramburu was chosen winner of Acquisition Award during the third edition of Arcos Dorados de Pintura Latinoamericana (Golden Arches of Latin American Painting) Contest, within the framework of the recently concluded edition of arteBA, in Argentina.

All of them had the possibility to develop an unpublished project and exhibit it at Solo Shows section. Afterwards, the jury made up of gallery owner Eduardo Brandão (VERMELHO Gallery, Brazil), Ana Maria Battistozzi (art critic), Esteban Tedesco (collector) and one representative of Arcos Dorados, sponsor of the initiative, and the public vote, chose Aramburu, whose piece will be part of Arcos Dorados collection (www.arcosdorados.com), McDonald´s biggest franchise in Latin America.

“This is the second time that a Peruvian artist is selected to participate in this contest. I think that this is an important personal recognition, but also proves that the look of Latin American art is starting to be enthusiastically focused on the Peruvian fine arts scene. My work precisely takes Peru’s historic approaches as starting point. Besides, it’s very encouraging to see the commitment of a company such as Arcos Dorados, which doesn’t hesitates when it comes to betting on new proposals”, the artist expressed.

Arcos Dorados de Pintura Latinoamericana Contest –during its three editions– has summoned 11 prestigious curators and 15 artists, who are younger than 35 years old, from 9 Latin American countries.
