Arte por Excelencias magazine begins its 16th issue with an excellent article written by Samuel Vasquez on the work of the recently deceased Colombian sculptor Edgar Negret, as well as fragments of an interview he had with the artist in 1992. It’s a magnificent start for an issue that turns out to be an intense journey through established and emerging poetics from the Latin American contemporary visual panorama, especially from the Caribbean and Central America.
This issue is put on the map within the framework of the celebration of its fourth anniversary. Loyal to its principles and initial objectives, we have worked to position it, and we have made it so far, as a platform to promote art and artists from region, without ignoring events that take place in every corner of Earth and attract all of us due to their contemporary character.
Arte por Excelencias 16 includes essays, interviews and reviews related to a significant amount of creators: Brazilian Diana Domingues and the trans-disciplinary project that brought her to the 11th Havana Biennial; Blue Curry, a young creator from Bahamas; Dominicans Marcos Lora and Monica Ferreras; Cuban Umberto Peña, among others. It also explores events such as the recent edition of San Pablo Biennial and Ch.ACO.
This issue, the last one in 2012, will soon be available on the web http://www.arteporexcelencias.com, and is going to be launched on the first days of December, during Art Basel Miami Beach.
