Galeria Habana will be hosting on Wednesday December 26 the ribbon-cutting ceremony of a solo show by one of the most internationally acclaimed artists within Cuba’s contemporary Art. Carlos Garaicoa will be showcasing recently-created pieces, in which he uses documental photography as axis and base to structure a discourse on politic propaganda, architecture and urban decadence.
The exhibition is precisely based on these three topics, under the title En Construccionas a reference to Jose Luis Guerin’s documental film. The pieces directly dialogue with Cuban social and politic reality, starting with a reflection on the metropolis that suggests deeper questions.
The opening ceremony is also going to include the presentation of the first monographic dedicated to Carlos Garaicoa’s photography, La Fotografia como Intervencion, published by La Fabrica Editorial during PHotoEspaña 2012 Festival, with texts written by Lillebit Fadraga and Antonio Jose Ponte.
