EsBaluard Opens “Implosió” to Mark Tenth Anniversary

Within the framework of its 10thanniversary, Es Baluard is set to open – Thursday January 30 at 20:00 hours – “Implosió”, a great display curated by Nekane Aramburu, director of Es Baluard, which analyzes and deeply rearranges the museum’s permanent collection. Furthermore, Jansky group is scheduled to perform at 21:30 hours on Fluido Rosa program (Radio 3), while “Implosió” party is going to take place at Aljub hall, from 21:00 hours to midnight.

The history of public and private collections is rarely continuous and compactly put together. The collections are pacts of love and memory, verifications and bets, affirmations and doubts, pleasure and thesis. The museums are in charge imposing the responsibility of safeguarding, documenting and shedding light on these fragments of the artistic evolution, as objects but also as transmitters of ideas and experiences.

Es Baluard, absorbed in a fundamental renovation that coincide with its tenth anniversary, wants to stand out as a museum and give personality to its different spaces by improving the zonal circulation and progressively configuring the functions according to the properties and sense. That’s why, with «Implosió»,they start working on the genesis of what is thought to be the epicenter of tis future strategies, fostering with its collections the reproduction of stem cells as a new way to understand the history of the Balearic creation and its international relations with polyhedral approaches.

This show is made up of four consecutive areas that have been differentiated to analyze the perspective of the glocal (the context of the Balearic Islands and the presence of international contemporary art). The areas included in «Implosió» are articulated through certain stylistic continuities following the historiography, but suggesting new readings and making emphasis on hot spots whose expansive waves made possible the advance of contemporary artistic practices.

The stem cell that boosts the cells produced in this regeneration, articulates the reading of what has happened in terms of the artistic production from the late 19th century to date by means of three interpretation systems that parallel and symbiotically coexist. That’s the reason why, these three canals are monitored throughout the museum’s main floor with interweaved routes: Experience, Reflection and Exercise. So, «Implosió» could become a stable platform to train viewers and support them when it comes to decoding what lies beyond the apparent reality.

IMPLOSIÓ. 1st Move

With “Implosió. 1er movimiento”, Es Baluard kicks off a new phase of the rearrangement of its collection, set to be carried out on its tenth anniversary, in late 2014. Structured in four differentiated areas, it gathers the experiences of avant-gardes from the early 20th century, by taking cubism as the first movement to break-up with the established art and the subsequent revolution of languages, carried out by the surrealism and Dadaism along with the development of the American abstract expressionism and the informalism in Europe after the Second World War.

This hall puts together works of Maria Blanchard, Wifredo Lam, Fernand Leger, Nicolas de StaëlandAntoniTàpies, along with such creators as Joan Miroor Pablo Picasso, with a brand-new reading on the work of Picasso in the field of ceramics, a language he discovered in 1946 in Vallauris (France) and he developed it between 1947 and 1971.
