La Ene Presents “Sucursal” at Malba

Sucursal is a temporary transfer of La Ene’s activities to Malba’s space, thus taking the hall of Contemporary program and the museum’s façade. La Ene’s collection–made up of 16 pieces- is going to be exhibited along with the archive. Furthermore, both institutions will be holding workshops, interventions and residencies. The coordination and curatorship will be the responsibility of a team that includes Gala Berger, Sofía Dourron, Marina Reyes Franco and Santiago Villanueva.

Within the framework of the display, Sofía Olascoaga (Mexico) and Radamés “Juni” Figueroa (Puerto Rico) will be developing different projects as residents. Olascoaga is going to continue her research, entitled “Between Utopia and Disillusionment”,on alternative education in Cuernavaca, Mexico, with sides to be explored in Argentina. The residency is aimed at sharing the process of work and research as a result of the historic experiences that have already been tackled in Cuernavaca; which have brought about reflection, practices, community lifestyles and social action from psychoanalytic and feminist approaches, education alternatives and social movements between the 1950 and 1980 decades.

On the other hand, Figueroa –in line with his latest projects at Whitney Biennale and New York’s Sculpture Center–is set to create a huge structure at the museum’s central hall. A space that invites the public to participate, a platform, meeting and reflection spot.

Luis Camnitzer is going to launch his text-workThe Museum is a School (2011- ), a site-specific installation that gets modified depending on its position on the facades of different art institutions. Camnitzer’s installation was first shown in Buenos Aires at La Ene space in 2013 and it will remain at Malba for a year. The work’s full text reads: “The Museum is a school: artists learn to communicate, the public learns to make connections”.
