Opening of “Near the Sea and Mountain” Show to Pay Tribute to the 500th Anniversary of Trinidad

Cuban photographer Raúl Abreu Acuña’s “Near the Sea and Mountain” exhibit opened on August 26, at 19:00 hours, at the Vedado Hall of Cuba’s National Hotel. Paying homage to the 500th anniversary of the Holy Trinity Village, celebrated on January 12, the works included in this display reflect emblematic moments of the city’s heritage: its people, customs and landscapes. Raúl Abreu Acuña, a photographer that has carried out over 40 solo shows, exhibits with his snapshots the age-old colonial air that be perceived in the village: its historic core and the Valley of Sugar mills, declared World’s Heritage by UNESCO; as well as the blend of culture, history and traditions that carpet this city. The show will be at Cuba’s National Hotel through September 7, 2014, and joins the actions included in the Ministry of Tourism’s Communication Strategy within the framework of the 500th anniversaries of Cuban heritage villages, which is aimed at boosting the tourism promotion of these destinations, structuring attractive tourism offers, fostering the main cultural traditions and taking steps with local authorities to spread, in Cuba and abroad, the values and history of these legendary cities.
