F-meninas Exhibition shows women talent on Lens

Havana, October 14th. The representation of women through the lens of nine young Cubans, focuses the photographic exhibition that under the name of F-meninas, welcomes today the Victor Hugo House, of this capital.

 


This exhibition brings together about 50 paintings and will be on display until next month pending the event Noviembre Fotográfico (Photographic November) and recreates the femininity through architecture, rodeo and landscapes.
 


"We wanted to play around with the F of fotografia (photpgraphy) and alluded to the concept of the painting Las Meninas by Velasquez, as are creative novice in the world of snapshots," said to AIN Lisa del Prado, curator of the works and director of Victor Hugo House.

 


At the same time, she argued that the display is inserted into the program of the II Festival Ellas Crean and part of the original idea of the experienced photographer Pedro Abascal, who heads the group El Taller, in the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.

One of the exhibitors is the designer Laura Diaz, who for two years has joined that team and offers the viewer, through its series Salida de emergencia, (Emergency Exit) imagine "disparate and unexpected universes."

 


Despite not being gender portraits, they have social content depicting the Cuban cultural diversity as F-meninas is the artistic discourse made ??by and for women with a passion for photography.
