Oriente Editorial adds to the revelry for half a millennium of Santiago de Cuba

With new books of historical and cultural section, and reprints of classic Cuban literature, Oriente Editorial, first with nationwide created outside the capital, will join the party for half a millennium of this old colonial town, revelry that will have a highlight in July 2015.

 


Aymara Vera, director of the institution, said to Sierra Maestra newspaper that among the proposals, with funding from the Office of the Curator of the City, will be the News of History (1902-1958), an interesting collection of chronicles of Santiago de Cuba by Alcibiades Poveda, a thorough investigator in Santiago becoming.

 


Two texts about Antonio Maceo, Cuban mambí hero named for his bravery as the Bronze Titan, will be released within the proposed of Oriente Editorial because of the half millennium of the city.

 

 

"One is Antonio Maceo: The Bronze Titan of Cuba fight for independence, Philip Foners, and the other is titled Antonio Maceo in historiography. Treatment and controversial aspects of his biography, by the researcher Zoe Sosa Borjas. Both belong to the Bronce collection of the publishing house and will be made in coedition with the Casa del Caribe, "said Aymara Vega.

 

 

Also in conjunction with that institution will be released La Música en Santiago de Cuba (The Music in Santiago de Cuba), by researcher Emilio Cueto.

 


With Caguayo Foundation and the five centuries of the city, Oriente Editorial promotes Artistic and Literary Culture in Santiago de Cuba project. Half Millennium, to rescue the most important aspects of the spiritual richness of this southeastern territory.

 

 

It comprises a number of texts, of which have been already released Protagonistas de las Artes Visuales (Protagonists of Visual Arts). El entorno (The environment), by the authors José Veigas and Antonio Desquirón, Santiago Literario by Leon Estrada, A Capa y Espada. La aventura de la pantalla  (The Adventure of the screen), by the poet Reinaldo Cedeño, and La Palabra en el Aire (The Word in the Air). Memorias de la radio santiaguera (Memoirs of Santiago radio), by journalist Eric Caraballoso.

 

 

The reprint of Un Artista en Cuba (An Artist in Cuba), volume containing the emotions of Walter Goodman, during his first arrival to Santiago de Cuba in 1864, is one of the proposals of the Oriente Editorial.
