Famous Spanish dancer enjoys dancing in Cuba

Havana.- Dancing in Cuba brings me happiness, said the Spanish Alicia Amatriain, one of the stars of the world dance and protagonist of memorable scenes in the International Ballet Festival of Havana.

My performances here are experiences that I  would not change for anything, she confessed to Prensa Latina.

The first figure of the Stuttgart Ballet in Germany rose from the seats at the auditorium of the Mella Theater in the capital on November 4th  with her extraordinary flexibility and simplicity in Mona Lisa, a complex duet by Israeli choreographer Itzik Galili about the musical composition by Thomas Höfs .

It was not a new feat for Amatriain as in 2004 Festival attendees to her Giselle at the National Theater wept at the end of each act and to her surprise many still remember her and thank her on the street, 10 years later.

Since I arrived in Cuba I can not help smiling all the time, here everyone makes me happy, it's the city, the public, people in general, the history, the Cuban dancers are also fabulous, she said.

After giving a picture of a ballet dancer in 2004 when interpreting Giselle  and pas de deux The Sleeping Beauty, both with Cuban Joel Carreno, Amatriain was afraid that the public did not value her equally and the amount of cheering aroused in her more anxiety for dancing.

Viewers immediately recognized her in the pas de deux Holberg John Cranko’s creation, choreographer and director who gave international fame to the Stuttgart Ballet.

In the words of Cuban dance specialist Ahmed Piñeiro Fernandez, if Cranko had known Amatriain she had been one of his muses.

Precisely the favorite piece of this dancer is one of the master creator, Oneguin, based on the literary work of Russian Alexander Pushkin.

Every show I do on the skin of Tatiana (the protagonist) is something special because that role has to be experienced from the inside and I feel it from the soul, she said.

As she confesses, just hearing the music she get excited and hopes to dance it one day in Cuba. It is needless to say she will try to come to future festivals.
