Colombian art is present in Madrid in March and April

After the participation of Colombia as a guest country in the last edition of ARCOmadrid, the Colombian art is still present in Madrid during the spring. This is possible thanks to Focus Colombia y Colombia en Madrid, as well as Madrid’s galleries where Colombian artists will exhibit in the next weeks.

Focus Colombia is program of the Colombia’s government organized by the Colombian curators María Wills Londoño and Jaime Cerón Silva. It compiles 18 solo and collective exhibitions, which are related to the art and nature as well as the link between subjectivity and history. This exhibitions program has the purpose to build a cultural bridge between Spain and Colombia, and it is present in the main art centers of Madrid through renowned artists such as Antonio Caro, José Antonio SuárezLondoñoand Óscar Muñoz.

Meanwhile the program Colombia en Madrid, an initiative of the Colombian Embassy to Spain, includes some exhibitions by outstanding artists within the contemporary Colombian artistic panorama such as Óscar Murillo, Doris Salcedo, also those of the collective exhibition called 'AcorazadoPatacón' and those of the of the Custodiaexhibition at the San Ignacio church, known as La Lechugafrom the art collection of the Banco de la Republica.

On the other part, a total of eight galleries and spaces are hosting during these days, representative of the Colombian art as part of the program. They include galleries such as Fernando Pradilla, Bernal Espacio, Albert Gallery, Elba Benítez, Magda Belloti, Max Estrella, and the art center of Alcobendaswhich have also joined this invasion of the Colombian art in Madrid.

With this proposal, Colombia has the purpose to strength the knowledge of the Spain society on the rich cotemporary Colombia art.

This is a project of the Colombia Government through the Colombia’s Ministry of Culture, Colombia’s Ministry of Foreign affairs and Colombia Embassy to Spain, in association with the Commerce Chamber of Bogota through its program ARTBO (International Art Fair of Bogotta) with the official sponsor of Telefonica and DHL companies as well as public and private institutions of Colombia and Spain.
