The Pompidou Center of Paris opened its first subsidiary company in Malaga, Spain, out of France with con un multidisciplinary profile and works by Frida Kahlo, Picasso, Bacon, Chagall, Yoko Ono and Andy Warhol, among others.

The exhibition includes 90 works from the 20 and 21 centuries and it is put at a crystal building known as El Cubo, with 6 thousand 300 square meters, between two harber moles, to which French Daniel Buren provided it with a multicolored facade.

The subsidiary company of Andalusia will be opened for five extendable years and its tour starts with the works titled Cabeza de mujer and the oil painting El sombrero con flores by Picasso and the pieces La violación and Recuerdo de viaje de Magritte.

In the exhibition, the visitors can see El marco, the first work by Mexican painter in an European museum, a portrait by Marc Chagall, the figures Mujer desnuda de piel by Giacometti and Mujer en bronce by Joan Miró, as well as films by Yoko Ono and Andy Warhol.

In May, they will open an exhibition with drawings by Joan Miró at a 363 square meters space dedicated to temporal exhibitions related to photography, design, architecture, dance and cinema.

France’s Minister of Culture Fleur Pellerin defends the necessity to facilitate the movement of the works in Europe during the opening, which was also attended by Mariano Rajoy, president of the Spanish Government.

Pellerin pointed out that the proposal in Malaga covers the ambition to create a new concept of museum and turn it into a multidisciplinary center opened to all the possible artistic options.
