Broadway Announces Nominations for 2015 Tony Awards

Los Angeles.- Broadway theater industry today announced 12 nominations for the 2015 Tony Awards for the musical versions of the classic film "An American in Paris" and "Fun Home". This award recognizes the best of the theater scene in the United States and its 69th edition will take place on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

 

The actors Bruce Willis and Mary-Louise Parker presented on Tuesday the final list of nominees among which stand out for their popularity Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan and Bradley Cooper, among others.

 

"An American in Paris" and "Fun Home" topped the nominations in the race for Best Musical, followed by the comedy Something Rotten!, that nabbed nominations in 10 categories.

 

The top-nominations for Best Play include "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time", adaptation of the novel by British Mark Haddon; "Disgraced", by the 2013 Pulittzer-winner Ayad Akhtar; "Hand to God" and "Wolf Hall", based on the novel by Hilary Mantel and set in the England of Henry VIII.

 

About 800 voters of the industry and the entertainment press define the winners in the 26 Tony categories, considered the Oscars of US theaters.
