Photo Exhibit of Fidel Castro to Open Friendship Meeting with Cuba

Recife, Brazil.- The inauguration of the photo exhibit Fidel es Fidel (Fidel is Fidel), by Cuban filmmaker and photographer Roberto Chile, opened recently in this northeastern city the 22nd Nationwide Convention of Solidarity with Cuba. The exhibit will run June 4-12 in a hall of the prefecture of Olinda, a municipality near Recife, the capital of Pernambuco state.

Fidel is Fidel reflects memorable moments and Fidel's tireless personality. The exhibit includes a set of large black and white and color pictures, as well as a printed image on fabric titled "Fidel's Star". With these photos the artist reflects his sensitivity and skill to capture the precise moment to be materialized later in a picture that will withstand the test of time.

Another two exhibits will be inaugurated after that one: one of paintings titled Welcome, by Helder Beserra, from Pernambuco, about the return home of The Cuban Five, and the other a philatelic display about the history of struggle of the Cuban people by Maria das Gracas Oliveira Silva.

The 22nd Nationwide Conventon of Solidarity will run through June 8. It includes lectures and debates on Cuba's economy, medical cooperation in Brazil and the actions to be promoted to demand the end of the U.S. blockade on Cuba.

It is expected to be attended by 400 people, including representatives of political parties, social movements and friends of Cuba in every state of Brazil.
