“We will turn the Karl Marx theater into the Coconut Island”, said Carlos Cremata, the director of La Colmenita Children Theater Company after announcing the show with which the 14th edition of the International Circus Festival Circuba 2015 begins. This July 8, at 9:00 pm, Havana’s Karl Marx theater will host the characters of Cuban children stories to join artists from the circus in a unique show entitled  La Comenita se va al Circo (La Colmenita goes to the circus).

“Two gangs will meet there at the theater: that of Elpidio Valdés and Captain Plin's.  Each of them will compete, showing their dreamt circus performances, which will be those of Habana Company and two foreign guest artists from Russia and Hungary”, Cremata explained.

This initiative of inserting La Colmenita as part of the event has been welcomed by the children artists who claim having learnt a lot along with the artists from the circus. “It has been a feedback show between them and us. One of the most interesting moments will be that when La  Colmenita  orchestra sings live the music of each circus performance”, added its director.

Accompanied by themes of Adalberto Alvárez, Los Van Van and Descemer Bueno sung by the children, this opening gala presents attractive performances. The acrobatic loop, the air bamboo, the beat quartet, along with the Russian bar, the acrobatic skating, the aerial fabrics and the jugglers, among others, will be part of this competition between Captain Plin and Elpidio Valdes' gangs.

Led by Carlos Cremata and Germán Muñoz, La Colmenita and the Cuban National Circus join and work on the same stage. Thus, Circuba 2015 starts.
