The Excelencias Group Attends Santiago de Cuba’s 500th Birthday

As part of the main activities under way in Santiago de Cuba to mark the five centuries of its foundation, a number of publications were presented at the Salon de los Vitrales in the Major General Antonio Maceo Square.

Attended by top local authorities, boldface names and guests, the book entitled “Five Centuries of History”, penned by Tania Fernandez Chaveco, provincial delegate of the Ministry of Culture, was unveiled. In the same breath, Adolfo Pestano presented the book “Santiago Always Santiago”, while celebrated journalist Arleen Rodriguez Derivet commented on “Chronicles of Santiago de Cuba”.

For its part, the Excelencias Group made an early presentation of a special double issue of its Excelencias magazine, entirely devoted to the fifth centennial of Santiago de Cuba. The presentation was made by the company’s president and CEO, Mr. Jose Carlos de Santiago, together with Omar Lopez, head of the City Curator’s Office. Later on, the group unveiled the Excelencias Santiago 365 multimedia.

Both presentations are part of the promotional pitch launched by the Excelencias Group since July 25, 2014 in 39 different media outlet and in half a dozen languages (English, Spanish, German, Russian, Portuguese and Italian).

Through a slew of articles penned by such outstanding Santiago-born personalities as Homero Fuentes, Eloina Miyares, Vitelio Ruiz and Rodulfo Vaillant, the special issue Excelencias Santiago Fifth Centennial brings readers closer to the city’s historic development, architecture, heritage, cultural and social values in these first 500 years since its foundation.

On the other hand, Santiago de Cuba 365 spells out the daily going of the seventh village founded by conquistador Diego Velazquez through more than 1,400 journalistic pieces and over 3,700 pictures. The multimedia has been distributed in 820 digital and printed publications that have so far logged way over 26 million views in 160 countries.
