Russia includes works by Cuban artist at international art exhibition

Moscow. - Four works by Russian-Cuban artist María Valdés stand out in the Secretos del Este y Occidente International Arts Exhibit recently inaugurated at the Crown Plaza hotel of the World Trade Center in this Russian capital city.

The art exhibit aims at presenting Russia’s potential for peace in a moment of many conflicts in the world. For me, it is something great that four of my works were selected by curators, told Valdes to Prensa Latina News Agency.

Valdes, daughter of the relationship between her Cuban father who arrived as a student to Moscow in the 1980s and her Russian mother, lives in his hometown, though the Caribbean Archipelago will be omnipresent in his life and work.

Being a member of the club of Russian journalists who are friends of Cuba, and the Association of Cuban Residents in Moscow, the artist proudly says that his four chosen oils on canvas reflect the land of his father and grandfathers.

It is very pleasant the welcoming of visitors, particularly addressed to my representation of Malecon and the Havana’s Square, as well as of the piece I named Tempestad (Storm), inspired in the tropical hurricanes, he said.

Organized by the Spiritual Heritage Fund of Planet Earth, as part of a social, global, cultural and educational project, supported by the Mundo de Noticias publishing house, this art exhibit brings together 37 works by six painters.

Besides Valdés, there are other authors present in this exhibition, such as Marina Romájina (Russia), Bajtibek Talkambáyev (Kazakhstan), Danil Fiodorov (Russia), Ekaterina Abramova (Russia-US), and the mystical quack of personalities from Georgia Dzhuna Davitashvili, who died in June this year.

Ambassadors, artists, intellectuals, representatives of social organizations from former Soviet Republics, along with media, attended this cultural action on behalf of peace.
