Cuban Record Company Egrem Praises Agreement with Sony Music

Company of Recordings and Musical Editions (Egrem, in Spanish) praised the signing here of a historic global licensing agreement with US company Sony Music Entertainment, media highlight today. We see in this agreement an opportunity for joint management in the coming years of our catalog, said the general director of Egrem, Mario Escalona after the signing with the President of Sony Music for Latin America, Spain and Portugal, Afo Verde.

 

Meanwhile, Verde said the company is working on preparing this great treasure of Cuban music to make it available in all possible music platforms and video.

 

The agreement will promote phonographic and audiovisual productions from the huge Egrem's stockpiled catalog with recorded Cuban music since the 1960's.

 

During the signing of the agreement, under negotiation for more than two years, there was also present the international president of Sony Music, Edgar Berger.

 

In the words of Berger, Sony Music is honored to bring this iconic music which represents more than five decades of Cuban culture to every corner of the world.

We are excited to introduce these extremely talented artists to a global audience, which they very much deserve, he added.

 

Before the event, unprecedented, executive director of Sony Music Entertainment, Doug Morris said in a statement the satisfaction of this entity.

 

We are happy to make association with Egrem to share for the first time one of the largest and most acclaimed Cuban music catalogs with fans around the world, he said.

 

According to Morris, this agreement will help expand international awareness and appreciation of Cuban culture, the rich Cuban musical heritage and its many wonderful artists.
