Cuban Musician Pablo Milanes to Honor Gabo in Next Concert

Bogota.- Cuban singer Pablo Milanes, founder of the Nueva Trova movement, will perform in Colombia next October 1st to honor Gabriel Garcia Marquez during the festival dedicated to this writer, said its organizers recently. "Gabo visited my house in Havana, he liked to ask about my work, but much more than that, he loved to ask about what my friends were writing and playing, things that he had not heard and fascinated him, that way a close friendship was born, more musical than literary", said Milanes.

"At the concert organized in Medellin, as part of the festival named after him, I will launch an album that he could not listen to, its name is Renacimiento, with songs also influenced by the Baroque and mixed with Cuban rhythms", said Milanes, quoted by the website El Colombiano.

According to the writer of famous "Yolanda" and "El breve espacio", the new album includes songs in the style of changüi, danzon, conga, jazz and also that they are the ultimate expression of Cuban popular music.

The free performance of Milanes will be hosted by the Fundacion Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano, founded by Garcia Marquez, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.
