Amazonia: a magical representation of nature

Welcome to Amazonia, a journey into the mysterious world of Brazil’s equatorial rainforest! For its second exhibition, opening in September 2015, the Panorama XXL is going exotic, offering its visitors the chance to dive deep into the heart of the nature and biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest. A panoramic view awaits you, of a world full of colours and surprises. Devoted to the complexity of the rainforest, Amazonia, created by Yadegar Asisi in 2009, takes its inspiration from the incredible biodiversity and purity of this natural habitat.

From a 15-metre high platform, the visitor can absorb the Amazonian landscapes in all their glory, climb to the top of the towering trees of virgin rainforest and observe fascinating plants of every possible shade of green, as well as numerous native animal species. The 360° Amazonia panorama takes you on an immersive journey into the heart of the Brazilian rainforest. Standing at the centre of the circular 30-metre high image, as if looking out from a forest clearing, the view stretches into the distance and gets lost in the thick foliage. You will come across butterflies, parrots, even a sloth hidden in the branches of these tropical giants. A simulation of day and night, complete with sunrise, sunset, the secrets of the rainforest at night and the soundtrack of the pattering rain, will plunge you further into the heart of this habitat, depicted on a canvas stretching out over more than 3,000 square meters. Thanks to the ultra-high definition imagery, it is even possible, using binoculars, to make out a caterpillar crawling on a leaf!
