Winners of 3rd Premio Maretti Cuba to be announced

This November 25, in the context of the 18th Italian Culture Week, will be announced the winners of the  3rd Premio Maretti Cuba at the Visual Arts Development Center, opportunity to inaugurate the corresponding exhibitions works of the six Cuban young artists and the same number of Italians in contest.

 

On the Cuban part were selected the binomial made up by Leslie García and Carlos González, Orestes Hernández, Levi Orta, Mabel Poulet, Milton Raggi and Rafael Villares. On the European side aspiring to the award are Diego Cibelli, Fabrizio Cotognini, Pamela Diamante, Giulio Frigo, Roberto Marchese and Gian María Tossati.

 

The jury will be formed by two teams of Cuban and Italian curators who will exchange the lists of artists they selected so that Cuban specialists can value the selection made by their Italian colleagues and vice versa.

 

The first group includes Caridad Blanco de la Cruz, Jorge Fernández Torres and Dayalis González Perdomo; while representing Italy are Laura Cherubini, Eugenio Viola and Giacomo Zaza.

 

Founded in 2002 by art books editors Christian Maretti and Concepto Pozzati, the Premio Maretti emerged with the objective of recognizing the work of an established prestige artist and its promotion through a monograph published by Maretti Publishing House.

 

In its first extension to Cuba, the contest winner was Lázaro Saavedra, while the next one was won by Susana del Pilar Delahante and Grethell Rasúa, with a mention for Reinier Nande.

 

As part of the Prize, an arts exhibit usually is opened as homage to a relevant Italian artist, this time dedicated to Piero Pizzi Cannella (1955) and it will run at El Reino de este Mundo gallery of the José Martí National Library from November 26 to December 30.
