Seda y Acero arts exhibit by artist Jesús Lara Sotelo

The ceramics exhibit Seda y acero, by well-known artist Jesús Lara Sotelo (Havana, 1972) will be inaugurated this November 27 at Museo de la Danza as homage to prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso’s 95th birthday.

In this new exhibit, the young creator gets closer to the zones of the sensuality and eroticism of the forms with pieces of incomparable structural and aesthetical quality. The series is made up by 12 works in enameled clay and mix techniques. Those who consider ceramics more than decorative art will have the opportunity to enjoy it.

Sotelo manifests a constant transit among the Visual Arts’ expressions—painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, etc. However, the treatment to ceramics could seem for many an isolated creative area and with no apparent connection to his work. As the result of a solid line as a ceramist, this series emerges in moments of a deep literary immersion in which the creator expresses his position regarding to be defined. But, we certainly can recognize an essential aspect in that creative torrent, in his work everything is inter-related, only language varies, content keeps invariable.

Amid aphorisms, poems and proses, Jesús Lara approaches once again Alicia Alonso and ballet and, in this occasion, ceramics in the reason for meeting.  With several previous homages, among canvas, poems books and arts exhibits, the author is making history, giving us new reasons to remember every instant.
