Works by Cuban Painters to be Exhibited in Colombia

Bogota.- Works by more than a dozen Cuban painters will be exhibited in this city next month, previous to a festival with the participation of Colombian and Cuban intellectuals.

The exhibition, the initial venue of which will be the Cuban Embassy in Colombia, includes 25 paintings made by artists born in Pinar del Rio, western region of Cuba and known for its active movement in painting.

"We seek to open doors, to find new spaces for our artists, to boost scenarios and spaces for sharing, in an attempt to promote the current situation of plastic arts in the two countries", Miguel Angel Couret, renowned painter of Cuba, told the Prensa Latina news agency.

The exhibition, organized also by painter from Pinar del Rio, Silvio Martinez, is made up of various paintings of small size, said Raciel Linares, another promoter of the initiative.

Following the exhibition at the Embassy, the paintings will join a greater event on November 28 and 29, along with other artistic expressions like music, during the First Festival of Cuban-Colombian Culture, organized with the cooperation of the Library Los Fundadores.
