Costa Rica presents as one of the strongest foreign representatives at the 19th International Handicraft Fair (Fiart 2015).
“We have totally handcrafted handbags, several scents perfumes, silver-made products, and hand- made macramé bracelets", declared in exclusive for Prensa Latina Rosa Matos, president of the Costa Rican National Craftsmen Association about their country’s stand.
She also refers to the great acceptance silver jewelry has among the public attending the event, in which they have been participating for 10 years.
“The perfumes essences are extracted from autochthonous flowers form Costa Rica like the rose and the alheli flower while fabrics and bamboo handbags are mostly made by single mothers”, she added.
Talking about this last aspect, Matos said that it even has a social connotation because many of the mentioned mothers “find in art their families means of support”.
Fiart 2015 will be opened until December 20 with its usual sample of the most genuine of Cuban and international handicraft with the presence of 250 Cuban craftsmen and 62 foreigners including Peru, Spain, Colombia and Ecuador.
