Opening at N2 Gallery

N2 Gallery has the pleasure to present its new exhibition "DESDE LA BARRA!". Inspired by theFolies-Bergère bar by Manet, each artist plays with his technique -drawing, photography, sculpture, painting, video, ...- showing his vision "from the counter of a bar."

The opening will be on Thursday the 17th of December at 7pm.

Heterodox whispering, chance encounters that sprout dazzling, passionate conversations among friends or spontaneous strangers. Everyone has their own voice, yet some others look, watch and stay in silence. Seductive glances seeking to achieve any dream that we had once, surely to be realised some day. The bar is a non-sacred space, open to everyone and in which we all are welcome, as it is immune to the fluctuations of power and time. Bars have witnessed the birth of fashions and customs, cultural movements, undreamed-of relationships, rumors that devastated times and prestige and, of course, new perversions. They also saw revolutions and stories of love and war even before prostitutes copulated with legionnaires among drinkers and charlatans in the taverns of Ancient Rome.

N2 Gallery wants to create a banquet of visions of this extraordinary, free and sovereign agora that re-mains to us, where sometimes we even get drunk and go mad. Josep Antoni Carulla presents an example in his image: Manet’s blurry mirror that reflected the free and chatty atmosphere of the Folies Bergere. On the canvas the one that is in charge is the harlot, who serves drinks. In N2 the ones in charge are the visions, compelled by the bar. Created by 25 artists, well-known and new. Hyperrealists, formalists, conceptual artists, collage and installation makers, photographers ... everything is possible when you think of a space with no greater authority than the inventions offered by the barman.
