US Zenon Dance Company to Debut in Cuba

The U.S. Zenon Dance Company will perform for the first time in Cuba next January 15, 16 and 17 at Marti Theater in this capital, the organizers announced recently. Based in Minnesota for more than three decades, the group will present here a program that includes the work Coming Home, by dancer, choreographer and director of the Cuban contemporary dance group Malpaso, Osnel Delgado.

Zenon Dance mixes elements of modern dance with jazz, and its performances are recognized worldwide by the stylistic diversity and emotional intelligence of the dancers.

Directed by Linda Andrews, one of the most important choreographers of Minnesota, the U.S. group cultivates an eclectic repertoire through pieces of U.S. artists such as Bill T. Jones, Doug Varone, Bebe Miller, Tere O'Connor, Danny Buraczeski and Seán Curran.

With favorable reviews in The New York Times and Dance Magazine, the company has brought its contemporary art to various U.S. cities and theaters in Russia, Switzerland, Hungary and Aruba.

Coming from the contemporary dance of Cuba, Delgado created Malpaso company in 2012 along with Daile Carrazana and currently it stands out for its particular style and genius in the choreography.
