DJ Diplo and Major Lazer to offer concert in Cuba

Havana.- Famous American DJ Diplo and his electro house band Major Lazer will offer a concert at Tribuna Antimperialista José Martí on March 6 as part of the first edition of the International Festival Musicabana.

The stars of the hit Lean On, the video of which broke records in YouTube last year and in other platforms like Spotify, will arrive to the Cuban capital city preceded by the fact of being the first US artist to celebrate a large scale show in Havana.

“As long as I can remember, Cuba has played a very influential role in my love for music; Cuba has a very powerful impact in the whole world, and for me especially as I grew up in Florida, a place that became a cultural center to evolve”, assured Diplo to several foreign media.

“I was lucky to visit Cuba some years ago with my friends of Calle 13 musical group and during my stay there my  mind went off with the people, for the depth of their culture and their way of life”, added the also producer, known for the Kack Ü project formed with artist Skrillex.

To return there now, in  2016, to be part once again of their culture, is a blessing and I couldn’t be more honored to take there the Major Lazer project, confessed Diplo, co-founder and leader of the group that fusions electro house with reggae and dancehall.

During their stay in Havana, the group, also integrated by Jillionaire and Walshy Fire, will meet young Djs, electronic genre musicians and fans.

The presentation is programmed for 3:00 pm and will serve as preamble of Musicabana, a musical event that will bring to the Island several international stars like Sean Paul and Carlinhos Brown from May 5 to 8.
