Cuban visual arts to celebrate Fidel’s 90 birthday

Cuban visual arts will join the activities to celebrate Commander in Chief Fidel Castro’s 90 birthday on August 13 during the whole year, as was informed during a meeting executives and specialists of the National Council of Visual Arts, CNAP, had with the press.

 

According to Teresita Domínguez, CNAP vice -president, a collective exhibit entitled Banderas will be inaugurated on April at the Pabellón Cuba presenting more than 90 works inspired in that national symbol, some of them specially created for the occasion. 

 

The arts exhibit will be opened until June to start then a tour through the rest of the Cuban provinces coinciding in the Eastern region of the Island with dates of great transcendence in the life of the historic leader of the Cuban revolution.

 

On the other part, one of the most important actions that will undertake the Fototeca de Cuba in the 30th anniversary of the institution will be the inauguration on August 13 of a photographic exhibit from Alex Castro with images of Fidel.

 

This exhibition, which has been already displayed in other institutions, is periodically enriched with new images the artist captures.

 

During the meeting with the press, it was also informed about other events to take place during 2016, such as the Festival del Cartel, from April 25 to 29, at the Development Center of the Visual Arts, where will also take place, on October, the 9th National Engraving Meeting.

 

During this year will be also remembered the centenary of important personalities in national visual arts like Hilda Aguiar, Enrique Carrulla, Andrés García Benítez, Jorge García Nápoles, José González Álvarez, Niko Lurksen, Leonel López-Nussa Carrión, José A. Martínez Díaz, René Valdés Cedeño and José Vidal Parés.

 

Likewise will be celebrated the 60th anniversary of Eduado Ponjuán and the 35th of the Provincial Center of Visual Arts and Design, the 30th of the Fototeca de Cuba  and the 15th of ADAVIS  and Génesis.
