Septeto Santiaguero to play at the New York’s Lincoln Center

By Alain Valdés

The Septeto Santiaguero is news again, now for being one of the musical groups invited to play at the New York’s Lincoln Center as part of the annual Midsummer Night Swing.

The Cuban traditional music group will play on June 28 and its performance is inserted in an interesting program that includes other musical genres’ artists, as advanced to the press Alden González, the Septeto representative.

The Midsummer Night Swing show will be presented at the Big Apple from June 21 to July 9 and the program also includes dance classes for those interested.

The boys lead by tres player  Fernando Dewar are presently in a tour through  Venezuela, with presentations in Barquisimeto, Aragua and Caracas, ending with a great concert at the Teresa Carreño theatre on May 10.

The center of the repertoire, with singers like José Alberto “El Canario” and Eduardo “Tiburón” Morales will be their most recent album No quiero llanto. Tributo a Los Compadres—winner of the Latin Grammy Award last year and nominated to the 2016 American version of the award.

González, also the producer, added that they have a presentation scheduled for May during the International Cubadisco Fair and confirmed that the Septeto Santiaguero is invited to a new discographic production of the Cuban Diva Omara Portuondo.

Dewar and his boys are working in the recording of their next album entitled Raiz and that will be release in September under EGREM recording house.
