Brasilia to Host Celebration of the World Cinema

Brasilia.- The 5th International Film Festival of Brasilia, which will be held from November 4th to the 13th, is seen today by its organizers as the possibility of hosting a celebration of the world''s cinema.

 


Sixteen feature films and documentaries, selected from the 321 registered, will integrate the competitive the exhibition of the event, which will be paying tribute to the Italian director, screenwriter and producer Sergio Leone with a special exhibition with six of his best known works.

 

In fact, the sources anticipated, the opening day of the Festival will include the participation of the Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre Claudio Santoro, which will execute the music composed by Ennio Morricone for the soundtrack of the film A Fistful of Dollars, to be displayed that same night.

 

In the competitive section will participate productions from Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Turkey, France, Spain, Portugal, Israel, Iran, China, Italy, Poland, the United States, Canada, Germany and Brazil, which will compete for three awards.

 

The public will choose the best fiction film and the best feature-length documentary, while a committee of five specialists will grant for the first time the Critics Prize Jose Carlos Avellar, in homage to the great Brazilian critic who died last March and who was a curator of the event in previous editions.

 

There will also be an exhibition dedicated to children, Animated World, where the productions Song of the Ocean (Belgium, France, Denmark, Ireland and Luxembourg) co-productions; Pinocchio, from the German Anna Justice and Mortadelo and Filemon on an Incredible Mission, by Spanish Javier Fesser will be screened.

 

For the closing of the 5th International Brasilia Film Festival the organizers announced the premiere in Brazil of Ma Ma (2015), the latest film of director Julio Medem, starring the actress Penelope Cruz.
