Pedro Almodóvar Retrospective at MoMA, in New York

Los Ángeles.- Internationally acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar returns to the Museum of Modern Art, MoMA, where his career originated over 30 years ago. The Oscar-winning writer and director will be honoured with an exhibition that runs from 29 November - 17 December that he will open himself.

Entering the film scene in 1980, Almodóvar soon became one of the most successful voices in cinema, creating a new Spanish film culture with his humorous and melodramatic film creations.

The celebratory exhibition opens with a special screening of Almodóvar's latest film, Julieta that could also aspire to win an Oscar. Based on the book Run Away by Alice Munro, the film features three short stories of life choices and chance encounters as a woman reflects on the heartbreak and trauma surrounding the disappearance of her daughter.

Almodóvar's films are renowned for featuring narratives that include grief and family relationships, his Oscar-winning film All About My Mother is a perfect example of this.

Screening all 20 films from the director's entire oeuvre, this monumental retrospective sheds light on a fantastic and captivating story-teller and his colourful universe. To accompany the career-spanning exhibition, Almodóvar will also be making an appearance to participate in an evening-long conversation and Q&A session to engage with his audience of fans and aspiring filmmakers.
