Alberto Linero Gallery, Excelencias Group Stand for Latin American Art

Alberto Linero Gallery opened a new and diverse exhibit made up of Latin American artists to strengthen its position in Miami’s Wynwood arts district, and stand out as one of the utmost collateral events of Art Basel Miami Beach 2016.

Such development also counted on the launch of Arte por Excelencias magazine, which joined the project in an environment of renewed and unifying hopes.

Jose Carlos de Santiago, CEO of the Excelencias Group, delivered the keynote speech and, along with gallery owner Alberto Linero, extoled the presence of the guest artists.

The list of attendees was made up of Cuban artists Michel Mirabal, who was given the Honoris Causa title at the University of Mexico barely two weeks ago; Alejandro Lescay, back from New York together with his father Alberto Lescay; Eduardo Roca, the prize-winning Choco from the 1970s’ generation of Cuban artists; Jorge Luis Santos and Italian Tomas Fattovich, who lives in Florida.

“Alberto Linero Gallery” with six years of presence in Wynwood, a former outlying area that became the art district of Miami, houses and showcases the work of Latin American artists, mainly from Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala and Venezuela.

Alberto Lescay didn’t attend the event because he returned to Santiago de Cuba in order to participate in the funeral rites of former president Fidel Castro, but his work is also exhibited in Art Basel, at his showcase in Miami Beach Convention Center.

Livened up by the music and a friendly environment, those who attended the opening of this superb exhibit at “Alberto Linero Gallery” were handed the latest issue of Arte por Excelencias, # 31.

As a symbol of friendship and close relations, the CEO and president of the Excelencias Group underlined the intention of enhancing the promotion of artworks.

In fact, the cover of this issue shows a peculiar artwork created by Santiago de Cuba-born Alberto Lescay, which is included in his recent exhibition entitled “Vuelo Directo (Direct Flight)” and showcased at New York’s Cuban Studies Center, along with this son Alejandro, a member of the youngest generation of Cuban painters.
