Havana.- Many Cuban institutions praised today the legacy of the world''s most recognized Cuban artist Alicia Alonso, who turns into 96 years old and attended her work center as one more day.

'Thank you for your example of dignity, loyalty, fidelity, for your total commitment,' said Teresa Amarelle, secretary general of the Federation of Cuban Women.

Before the working group of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), directed by Alicia Alonso, Amarelle described the Cuban prima ballerina assoluta as an educator par excellence.

Dancers, teachers and other members of BNC welcomed her with two cakes and sang her happy birthday at the BNC headquarters founded in 1948 by her and brothers Fernando and Alberto Alonso.

Representatives of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television, and the National School of Ballet Fernando Alonso gave Alicia Alonso flowers on behalf of their institutions.
