During the three days of Hybrid the visitors will enjoy the art works of more than 100 emergent artists from an exclusive selection of galleries, hybrid art spaces and artists collectives from seven different countries. Spanish artists of great projection like Francisco Buenavida, Sergio Frutos, Veronika Márquez, Christian Lagata, Olga de Dios or Irene Cruz will exhibit their latest work in Hybrid accompanied by international emerging artists like Paloma Proudfoot, Angela Kaisers, Diora Reshetnikova, Dario Felicíssimo or Marcelo Macedo among others.
Hybrid will play a key role in exposing a new generation of artists to the collectors and art lovers visiting Madrid for the events taking place in the city during these days. Madrid Art Week attracts people from all over the world, offering a full programme of art events, including Spain’s world famous contemporary art fair, ARCO.
Hybrid will take place in the Hotel Petit Palace Santa Bárbara, located on 10 Plaza Santa Bárbara, between Alonso Martínez metro station and the Chueca neighbourhood. In addition to the hotel rooms, Hybrid will also be availing hotel's function rooms for its programme of activities. Highlights from the side program of activities are a series of performance curated by Mario Gutiérrez Cru, director de KREÆ, (Instituto Creación Contemporánea), workshops and panels, a night of electronic experimental music, acoustic concerts at midday and Djs sets during the evenings. About Hybrid
Hybrid is an Art Fair & Festival that will take place on 24, 25 and 26 February 2017, during Madrid Art Week. 34 art spaces, both for-profit and non-profit, are participating in this first edition of Hybrid. These range from art galleries to alternative art spaces, artist platforms and collectives, and offer a wide variety of independent projects of emerging art, both local and international.
Hybrid made its first appearance on the Madrid cultural scene in September 2016 as the first festival of alternative art spaces. This coming February, Hybrid will be transformed: changing its format to fit in with the panorama of ARCO satellite festivals. Following on from the philosophy of Hybrid Festival, the fair will take place in an alternative exhibition space in the rooms of the Hotel Petit Palace Santa Bárbara and will also host a transdisciplinary programme of activities with music and live performances.
Hybrid aims to position itself as one of the most alternative art fairs taking place during Madrid Art Week. It hopes to achieve this through the unique format of the fair itself and its dynamic list of participants, as well as a comprehensive program of activities which emphasizes the hybridization of disciplines.
